Taiwan earthquake: Strong tremors strikes off Yilan County

The China Earthquake Networks Center is reporting that a magnitude-6.0 earthquake hit waters off Taiwan this morning. The quake struck at a depth of 15 kilometers, just east of the coastal city of Yilan. It was felt as far as 60 kilometers away, in the city of Taipei. An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 shook northeast Taiwan on Thursday (May 12), the US Geological Survey said, with tremors felt as far away as the capital, Taipei. The quake was centred 14 km (nine miles) northeast of the coastal town of Su-ao, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
